A Fantastic Excuse To Eat Chocolate

Here at Keelham, we pride ourselves on keeping up with all the latest foodie events. We had lots of fun finding ways to celebrate Great British Pea Week and we were surprised at how many games could be played with tomatoes during British Tomato Week.

We are even more excited about this festival. - It’s Chocolate Week!

Yorkshire is home to some of the biggest names in chocolate. Terry's, Thornton’s and Rowntrees all started here. Also, George Cadbury and Lewis Fry both learnt the trade with Joseph Rowntree so maybe Yorkshire can take credit for those too.

Over the years several Yorkshire chocolatiers have popped up, producing delicious chocolate around the county.

Ampleforth Chocolates

Situated in the heart of the Howardian Hills, Ampleforth Chocolate's talented chocolatiers use the finest Belgian chocolate to create a range of artisan chocolates, truffles and novelty items. This brilliant company was designed to provide training, work experience and job opportunities for adults with autism and associated learning difficulties.

Guppys Chocolates

Fran and Peter Guppy handmake their delicious chocolates on Clifton Moor in York. They pride themselves in carrying on the family traditions of Rowntrees and Terry's. Their chocolate shards are to die for!

Choc-affair has grown from a husband and wife team with one tiny machine and a little kitchen to a team of 20 and a factory with 12 machines. They create mouthwatering chocolate delights with fabulous flavour combinations.

Whitakers Chocolates

Whitakers Chocolates are one of the U.K.'s leading chocolate suppliers and they are based in Skipton. They have evolved over 125 years and 5 generations and they take pride in manufacturing  Chocolates.

Chocolate is fabulous! So fabulous in fact that it has been added to many other food and drinks to make them even more special. Chocolate cookies and cakes are obvious but chocolate dipped crisps, chocolate coated peppers and chocolate beer are a little more surprising. Surprising but amazing!
