It’s not often we get to let our hair down. Following our nomination for family business of the year in June, we were delighted to head down to London’s iconic Wembley Stadium to join more than 350 family businesses in celebrating the seventh annual Red Ribbon Awards.
The awards celebrate the achievements of family businesses across the UK. The Director of Family Business Place and the awards, Amalia Brightley-Gillott said:
“Family businesses are the shining stars of the British economy and the beating heart of our local communities, employing 1 in 3 people. Despite their incredible contribution they are often modest and shy about publicising their achievements and so we founded the Red Ribbon Awards to celebrate them. This year’s Winners and ‘Commended for Excellence’ are national treasures who all excel in their field and are true beacons of British commerce.”
We were delighted to receive a ‘Commendation for Excellence’ on the night, having been shortlisted as North East finalists in the ‘Family Business of Year’ category. There are over 3 million family businesses in the UK and each award had hundreds of entries so it was an honour to receive this commendation and huge thanks go to our hardworking, talented team and loyal customers who support us.
Harry our grandad set up a butchers in Halifax in 1929 and our family roots are at the heart of the business. One thing that’s not changed through the years is our belief in taste coming first. We’re proud of our traditional values, championing 400 local farmers and suppliers and of our exceptional team who help us go the extra mile for our customers.
