Top 10 Foodie Gift Ideas With A Twist

We know that feeling. The one where Christmas is just around the corner and you’ve still a couple of people on your present list who you just can’t manage to tick off... But don’t panic! Our Keelham elves have put together a list of brilliant gifts for every budget and for even the trickiest of customers. Just pretend you thought of it yourself.

1) Hoppy Christmas Beer Set £15

Forget flat caps and whippets – brilliant beer is what Yorkshire is really about. We’ve handpicked five special edition Christmas beers from five of our favourite Yorkshire breweries, so you can give the beer lover in your life a real tour of the tastebuds. Look out for Keelham’s own seasonal brew, Baaa Humbug, as well as festive numbers from the likes of Naylor’s, Wold Top and Saltaire Brewery’s. Cheers!

2) Yorkshire Gin From £6.50

Shopping for the gin lover who has it all? Well, lucky for you, Yorkshire has gone gin crazy – and so have we! We now have 15 different gins from 10 different small producers from across Yorkshire, lots of which you simply can’t find in the supermarkets – meaning extra brownie points for you. Sizes range from minis and ginis, all the way up to wonderful 1 litres.

For a really gin-tastic idea, why not make your own Yorkshire Gin Stocking? Just buy a stocking (we’ve plenty to choose from!), stuff it full of Yorkshire gin minis, add a couple of glasses wrapped in tissue paper, and finish with some accessories such as straws, ice cube trays and some boozy chocs, and voila, your work is done! Just don’t mix it up with the kids’.

3) Make Your Own Hamper (prices vary)

Our locally-made stylish hamper boxes are now available to buy empty so you can fill them with anything from the shop. Few things are as thoughtful as making your own hamper, full of things you know they will love.

We’re making it even easier for you this year. Our hamper boxes are available to buy empty and ready to be filled. Just pop it in your trolley and fill it full of anything you like from the shop.

It’s a chance to show your creativity, and how much you know the person you’re buying for, so feel free to go totally freestyle or theme your box around the things you know they love. Whether that’s everything they might need for baking with the kids – think essential ingredients, mixing bowls, Yorkshire chocolates, jams and more – or a teatime box complete with Yorkshire tea, parkin and marmalades… Or something even better!

Simply choose the size of hamper box you want to give and start filling it up from our shelves. Prices: Small £2.50; Medium £3.50; Large £4.50

4) Boozy Brussels Sprouts £8.95

Gin. Caramel. Chocolate. And… Brussel sprouts? Yes, these have to be seen to be believed! These brilliantly boozy handmade Brussels are made of chocolate and filled with decadent gin-flavoured caramel. With that combination of flavours, they’re sure to be the vegetable on the top of everyone’s list this Christmas! Hurry though, they’re going fast.

5) Keelham Gift Card (as much or as little as you like)

If you know someone with great taste, who loves Yorkshire as much as you do, or who is just impossible to please, there really is only one gift that is guaranteed to hit the spot: give them the gift of delicious food and drink with a Keelham gift card. Top it up with as much or as little as you like, then let them choose their own post-Christmas treat in their nearest shop.

We like to think that it’s special enough on its own but if you just can’t bring yourself to hand over a present without any wrapping, why not nestle the gift card in their favourite box of chocolates, attach it to the neck of a bottle of Baaa Humbug, Keelham’s seasonal beer, or with another Yorkshire treat?

6) Make Your Own Sausage Kit £10

We love sausages at Keelham. Eating them, making them, cooking with them… In fact we’re sausage mad. If you’re shopping for a fellow sausage-fiend, why not give them a chance to make their own? Our tasty Cumberland Sausage Kit will give them everything they need. All they have to do is add their favourite fresh meat (we recommend Keelham’s Yorkshire meat of course) and then it’s time for them to channel their inner culinary genius. The best bit? They might even share them with you at the end.

7) Beautiful hand-painted chocolate Christmas Trees £7.95

Beautiful and elegant, these Belgian chocolate Christmas trees almost look too good to eat – but we suggest diving in anyway. They’re individually handcrafted for us by York-based chocolatiers Ampleforth Plus, a social enterprise set up by local charity Autism Plus, so you can feel as happy about these delicious treats as the lucky person eating them.

8) The Original Chilli Bomb Gift Set £10

If you know someone who likes it hot, we’ve got just the thing to keep them happy all year round. This gift set is stuffed with three full-sized jars of Yorkshire’s finest chilli concoctions in mild to medium spice levels. They’ll find Yorkshire Wolds Chilli Jam, Scotch Bonnet Chilli Jam and – our favourite – the Original Chilli Jam, full of chilli, garlic and ginger. All three are great for adding a delicious twist to a meal, or for dolloping on pretty much anything.

9) Colour your own Tipsy Pig Beer £2

Why send a card when you can write your special message on a beer instead? Our special bottles of our Festive Session Ale have a label specially designed for you or your little helpers to write your own message or draw your own festive scene. It’s one way to guarantee a memorable, fun and 100% unique gift for that special someone. Oh, and it tastes great too.

10) Christmas Pudding Mug Baking Mix £3.50

Looking for last minute stocking fillers? These little tubs are just the trick. Stuff them in stockings this year and your lucky recipient will be able to bake their own pud in a mug, with the help of a microwave, in two minutes flat! They’re available in year-round favourites flavours such as cookies and brownies, but at this time of year we suggest you don’t miss out on the Christmas pudding special.

P.S. While it is the season of giving, why not throw an extra couple of them into the trolley for yourself? We recommend enjoying them with your feet firmly up, a Christmas film on and your Christmas list ticked off!
